COME UP WITHOUT THE COMEDOWN
By the time we hit a club, most of us are already some way into a night of using some sort of substance or other to help us relax. We go out and have a few beers, a cocktail or six, or a bottle of wine is sunk before we feel we are ready to dance. By ‘ready’ we mean less inhibited. Sometimes it can involve the use of recreational drugs. Once we are in a less inhibited state, we find that we really, really dance and can allow ourselves to let go into the rhythm of the music and the vibe of dancing in a crowd. We totally get that going out to have a few drinks and a dance is just what is really need sometimes BUT we have discovered that there is another way too. When we dance on a Wild Chocolate Club night we imbibe some raw cacao which gives us a burst of delicious energy, then we close our eyes and find we can really, really dance.
The alcohol we drink, or the chemicals we take, gives us a different perception of reality. They soften our fears about being judged on how we appear; whether we are ‘good’ dancers and whether we move in the accepted way or what people think of us as we dance in that crowd. With our conscious clubbing we dance in a darkened space and close our eyes just so it changes our perceptions of our surroundings. No-one is watching so it doesn’t matter how you move; no-one is watching so it doesn’t matter if you dance like the others in the crowd; no-one is watching so no-one cares if you are really, really dancing or stamping it out or sitting on the floor or skipping around the room!
Newcomers to the Wild Chocolate Club often say initially they thought they’d be really self-conscious of dancing without some sort of alcohol in their systems but every single one feeds back at the end that they were amazed at how quickly they dropped down into the music and found themselves just really going for it!
